White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt Opens Up About 32-Year Age Gap With Husband

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt recently addressed the 32-year age gap between her and her husband, Nicholas Riccio.

Leavitt, 27, made history as the youngest White House press secretary. She married Riccio, 59, in a private ceremony in January, just days before Donald Trump’s second inauguration as president.

Speaking on The Megyn Kelly Show last month, Leavitt shared how she met Riccio in 2022 while running for Congress in New Hampshire.

Although she won the Republican nomination, she lost the seat to Chris Pappas.

“A mutual friend hosted an event at a restaurant he owns in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” Leavitt said. “I was speaking at the event. We met, became friends, and eventually fell in love.”

When asked if she had any reservations about Riccio’s age, Leavitt admitted, “Of course. It’s not a typical love story, but he’s incredible.”

Leavitt also praised Riccio for being a supportive partner and father to their son, Nicholas Robert Riccio, nicknamed “Niko,” who was born in July 2024.

“He’s my biggest supporter, my best friend, and my rock,” she said about Riccio, a successful real estate developer.

“He’s fully supportive of me focusing on my career, especially during such a chaotic time. I always say, ‘I walked into your life, and it’s been a circus ever since,’ but he’s fully on board.”

Leavitt also shared how she manages her demanding job and motherhood.

“I’m so grateful for the support system I have,” she said. “My husband is very present with our child, and I have wonderful parents and friends who step in when I need them.”

On Monday, Leavitt shared photos from her wedding at Wentworth By The Sea Country Club in New Hampshire.

She wore a long-sleeved, sparkly white gown with her hair in an updo, while Riccio wore a classic black tuxedo and bowtie.

“Finally found some time to post a few of my favorite pictures from one of my favorite days!” she captioned the post.

In July, she also announced the birth of her son on Instagram, sharing a black-and-white photo of herself with Niko.

“It’s true when they say there’s nothing like the love you feel for your child,” she wrote. “My heart has grown bigger than I ever imagined.

Babies are the ultimate blessing, and I’m so grateful for our beautiful, happy, healthy boy.”

Leavitt returned to work shortly after giving birth, following the assassination attempt on Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“I had just brought my three-day-old baby home from the hospital and turned on the TV to watch the rally,” she said in an October interview with The Conservateur. “I looked at my husband and said, ‘Looks like I’m going back to work.’”
