Georgia voters are down to the wire as Friday marks the final day for early voting ahead of the state’s 2024 presidential primary on Tuesday. Approximately 150,000 people cast their votes this week, bringing the total to nearly 370,000, with Cobb, DeKalb, and Fulton counties leading in voter turnout.
In the 2020 elections, nearly 900,000 people voted, with most opting for mail-in ballots due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, about 21,000 people chose to vote absentee. The state, with 6.9 million active voters, is experiencing a 5.5% turnout for the primary.

Georgia operates as an open primary state, allowing voters to select either party’s ballot during the primary, with no switching in case of a runoff. This primary solely focuses on presidential candidates, while May will see voters returning for congressional primaries and other races.

As the primary approaches, both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump are actively campaigning in Georgia. Biden will be in metro Atlanta, known for its diverse population, while Trump is scheduled to visit Rome in northwest Georgia.
The rallies reflect their distinct campaign strategies as they vie for votes in this critical state.
